A Film by Stefan Forbes

This gripping political thriller tells the story of Lee Atwater, the blues-playing rogue whose rambunctious rise from the South to Chairman of the GOP positioned him as kingmaker and political rock star. Characterized as "the most evil man in America" by one of his enemies, he helped elect 3 Republican Presidents with his vision of politics as war. As mentor to both Karl Rove and George W. Bush, many credit him with America's tremendous shift to the right. But when illness strikes, this legendary cynic embarks on a controversial deathbed search for redemption.

  • An absolute monster of a human being. A wretched little puke who sold the soul of the GOP and caused them to be forever nothing but full of fear-mongering, hyperbole-slinging, race-baiting bottom-feeders.

  • just saw the documentory. his end is true justice, evil men like this can not continue to live, his death was justice, now i prey that God will have mercy on his soul if he has one.. and for the rest of his republican friends, all i can say is that Lee's end is just a small sample of the punishment that is at your door steps

  • i don't think anything could make me watch Karl Rove - i'd sooner look at dogshit

  • @dasheight Cry loser! Every time the GOP expose you commies you lose!

  • Right wing pundits and strategists don't get this is a sure sign of their moral decay. It's rank hypocrisy to lecture the country about morality and strength of character while employing and lauding people Atwater who lacked both. Own it GOP he is your pride and glory. Until his deathbed conversion. Damn bet you wish you could hide that fact. Anyway when you have no ideas or support guess hate and stupid works for weak thinkers. Hell look at the popularity of AM right wing hate radio. Congrats.

  • While I remember choking up when I read the article in Life Magazine in Jan. 1991 and realized Atwater would lose his battle with brain cancer, it still does not erase the hateful, vicious person he was before he became ill. Politics is one thing, but Atwater elevated negative campaigning to a whole new level. No one can honestly say that "all politicians do" what Atwater did in '88. Mike Dukakis certainly didn't run that type of a campaign, and there was no reason for Atwater to do so.

  • the willie horton ad was not racist. It was spun as racist by liberals whose ideology is predicated on identity politics

  • dukasis no pledge to the flag no respect for the rule of law. how would u feel if ur sister was violated by the sicko willie horton

  • He strikes me as the textbook "professional" psychopath.
