@DERedhead65 That's a really sweet memory. I would hear C-5s taking off all the time at night, in the distance, and they have a haunting yet somehow comforting sound to them. They've nearly all been replaced with C-17s now, and those engines are pretty but once in a while I still hear a C-5 drifting through.

Awesome!

@A550RGY I SO AGREE... that was my daddy's "baby" in the USAF... he has sadly passed away now... but Forever in my heart, and EVERYTIME I see or "hear" that whiny engine roar overheard now I think my dad is shining down on me... tears.

yeah seen few cockpit vids of 'old' c5s, this newer as i even got inside and got fotos taken

Dover AFB moves more tonnage than any other Air Force Base in the world... US or other countries included. They also move more cargo than UPS and FedEx combined last year. With the addition of the New C-17 that number will being going up for sure. Just think when they get thier hands on the "new" C-5M Super Galaxy with its increased thrust (new engines), updated cockpit, and increased performance between downtime for maintiance.

love the new C5M Super galaxy!!!!! got few vids when it passed thru me home town in australia for HOT weather testing

Improbable as that is, it would be pretty damned cool!
-
You know what would be cool? If the military brought in a couple of Harriers and a couple F-35's and had them all go into a hover spread out across the top of stadium. Then they speed away one at a time. How about that!!!

Faster is better
The C-5s engines have one of the coolest whiny sounds ever. Sounds like something George Lucas stole for the Pod Race scene.
