This is a tutorial how to program a 360 controller into your Vista PC using a program called Xpadder.

Ok, there are a lot of comments being posted about the fact that Xpadder does or doesn't work with Windows 7. I don't know about this for definite because I am still on Vista but if you do have problems then try changing the compatibility settings on Windows 7 by right clicking on the xpadder icon and going down to properties in there you will find something about compatibility and just change the compatibility to either XP or Vista or whatever. I would appreciate it if you would stop posting about Windows 7 and whether it does or doesn't work on your computer anymore, just use some initiative and google it if you can't figure it out. I know 100% that google will bring something up because that is how I found out how to change compatibility. Cheers.

For games, you have to go into the game settings and change the control settings to suit you. Then go into Xpadder shown in the video to assign these controls you have used to each button/trigger on the controller. The next time you go into the game with the pad plugged in it will be working with the game.

Ok in response to earlier questions you have to put the RB and LB as regular buttons the same thing you did for the A,B,X and Y buttons, they will appear as the same shape. Then apply the function to each to suit you.

Also I apologize for not getting back to people I wasn't aware I had comments it being my first video and not knowing what to expect.

  • you didnt show the RB and LB buttons on xpadder?? and how can iiUse the RB button 2 shoot instead of the right trigger on shooting games like black ops??

  • @samdarapgod Well if for example shoot in Black Ops is left mouse click, then assign the left mouse click to the RB. You place the RB button like any other button, I just forgot to show it in the video, but it works exactly the same. If that wasn't what you wanted get back to me and I'll try and assist.

  • @Danielst16 can you do a tutorial video on switching the trigger button to the RB cuz iTried doing myself nd it doesnt work.. thanx

  • @samdarapgod You need to make sure that 1) the button for RB is on your button map and you know exactly where it is and what it is called, 2) Go into Black Ops, open the key map and find out what shoot is, 3) go into the silver button allocation screen seen in my video and then make sure RB is the shoot key from the game, and then allocate all the other controls. If this doesn't work then either the RB is faulty or there is something amiss. My advice is start again and be careful with each step.

  • @samdarapgod if you still need help I don't have time to be making any new videos but I will try and assist you as much as I can, if you can try and be as specific as possible that would be helpful. Just out of curiosity, is the RB button simply refusing to shoot or is it all of the buttons which are refusing to work?

  • Whenever I start up my games that i want to play with my 360 controller, xpadder doesn't seem to be doing anything, I move the mouse with the control stick i assigned and try to mvoe but nothing, though it works fine until that happens. What do i need to do to keep xpadder in control?

  • @GrandDewalt So you mean it works on the desktop but not in game? Well what I would do is create a new control map. What I mean is change every control in the game and write them down one at a time, then go through one at a time and assign them to the controller using xpadder and keep changing them until they are comfortable. If it works on the desktop, simply open the game and it should work, don't close xpadder or anything, don't even shrink it to the explorer bar. Any probs get back to me.
