  • That was "Missouri", a common jam tune in the hammered dulcimer world

  • Chris, what size HD is this? Is it diatonic?

  • Hi, This is a 16/15. It is 3 octaves and diatonic. It is fully chromatic in the keys of G, and D

  • How very informative and useful; great video!

  • THANKS!

Since watching Rich Mullens (RIP) play the hammer dulcimer so beutifully I've wanted to play one too.

This video brings me one step closer to making that a reality.

God bless you and thanks for the music!

  • Thanks for the video! I acquired one of your dulcimers from someone off of craigslist last year and I love it. It doesn't get played as much as I would like, as my bandmates find it hard to incorporate ;) I have no problem with hand coordination, since I've played percussion and bass for 15 years, but I never took the time to fully understand the layout of the instrument. A lot easier than I thought! My lack of understanding somehow managed everything I play on it to sound really Eastern.

  • i wish there is a keyboard version of this thing, that would be easier for me to play xD

  • Thanks , My children bought me a Hammer Dulcimer kit for my 50th Birthday, I built it and have been playing it , Self taught, I do mostly old hymns, and am wishing to grow in playing this instument, Your explanation has just opened that door for me, God Bless you, Mine has 12 sets of stings on the Treble bridge, and 11 on the Bass

  • You make it look so easy! But I know from experience with other things that I have tried that I have exactly NO narural talent. I used to play piano, but I had to work at it so hard that it wasn't fun. Sure, I mastered a few pieces and they sounded very good, but I had to work so hard... I have wanted to try a dulcimer, but I'm afraid of the same thing happening! Great video. Do you have a dvd of lessons? That would be great!

  • I don't know a thing about music yet try and play instruments,
