  • mr mcgowan may be right about wto remaing lhd R types . the fact is that many silver dawn were sold but very very few R types. in any case I want to thank him for this upload , it´´s from a true bentley enthusiast and quite a bit touching reallly. I hope he´ll get to own the car for the 3rd tme

  • Just to make things clear, there were 2,323 Bentley R-Types made betwen 1952 and 1955 - standard and coachbuilt. Of these, 160 were left hand drive. 69 were shipped to the US and 13 to Canada. The remaining cars distributed throughout the world - only 45 with kilometer speedometers. The R-Type has that wonderful combination of pre-war looks and post-war performance. I have just purchased my fourth R-Type in 40 years - this one left hand drive.

  • I have a 1954 Bentley type R, mine is right hand drive, its not as nice as this one but i enjoy driving it to shows.

  • a fabulous story of a fabulous car! i've sold my 1948-bentley, coachbuilt by 'freestone & webb' as well some years ago and hope to buy it back one day as well! i'll never forget her as i was able to take part on the golden jubilee of h.m. the queen through windsor castle back in 2002 with it!

  • Thank you for sharing this story. I have always known that you enjoyed buying cars and restoring them, but, I didn't have an appreciation about it until now.
