Many national high street chains and smaller retail outlets have shut leading to deserted streets.

  • Get rid of UK's PRIVATE central bank, The Bank of England if you want prosperity. It own your government!

  • @DMB31122008 You do make valid points. I must admit though I want to return to a world where air travel is a luxury we do once every two or three years, like when I grew up in the 70s. Now we use planes like buses. In fact trying to get a bus in a rural area on a sunday is harder than flying across the world in some cases, lol. And it costs less to fly transatlantic than to take the train from Cornwall to Scotland. that can't be right either. Very best to you for 2011! :)

  • @DMB31122008 I agree with about there being a darker side to the net. A perfect place for really disfunctional people to hide and pray on others. I don't tend to tell internet 'friends' anything about my personal life on FB though. And in my case working in a very social job means I am desperately in need of peace and space on my own in my down time, lol.

  • @UFOSIG( 3) and my final addition is....look at life with NO internet, wow it wud be hard, No access to books I need for study, no access to banking when it suites me, not even able to go shopping if i was unable to leave the house or chose not to go out doors....wow I can even look at foreign places without even going on a plane.... FRESH AIR ADVENTURE and SOCIAL actions are dying...and we need to save them. BUT THATS JUST MY OPINION!!! lol HAPPY NEW YEAR by the way :)

  • @UFOSIG The FB site has taken away social skills, it has taken away personal and social develeopment skills too, and it is even tredding into the dark side of life....nasty stuff that I wont even go into. BUT the internet has taken ALL of us, photos can be sent worldwide in seconds shopping from places we have never traveled to, reading stuff we wud maybe never usually look at.......Can this be ALL GOOD? I dont know.....

  • @UFOSIG reclusive.....well MAYBE thats due to the internet, it seems to take over our lifes, our social activity can take place online, we make and meet friends from all 4 corners of the globe, we tell them our deepest darkest secrets, but we dont really know them....we still call them FRIENDS! take facebook for example,... as much as it has some uses, and only a few are REAL uses, i.e long distance family or work colleugues from yesteryear....but that has the same stuff ....more on next one

  • @DMB31122008 I must confess, other than local independent shops, I only shop on the internet now. All the chainstores sell online, Tesco deliver & that's the way I like it. I hate crowded shops. I only pop into town to go to antiques shops a& independent boutiques, health food shops etc. some people fear the NWO. But in many ways I'd love to only have to go out when absolutely necessary, ie: work and health care and very occassional socialing, lol. I am getting reclusive in my middle age, lol!

  • Half of the customers who shop in the high street are not computer literate. It's the recession that'saffecting sales.

  • My thoughts,....for what they are worth,.... High street retail,.... going going gone,...Internet shopping, bill payment and even reading,.. on the up , High steer will soon be called i-street!?! maybe!!!
