Artist Christopher Sheehan explains specifics of lazure painting technique. It's harmonious with what you'd see in nature--dimensions of light and shadow. And always different, each time.
A labor-intensive process, lazure requires many layers. Chris will apply up to 15 layers for this painting.
He's using acrylic paint, thinned with water, and Benjamin Moore low-VOC paint base.
Recorded on April 21, 2010 using a Flip Video camcorder.
Did you use a flat, eggshell, gloss, high gloss or semi gloss paint base?

I am really interested in this technique. I wonder how to turn down the background music; it's hard to hear Christopher.

Thank you for posting this video. There really isn't a whole lot of information out there on lazure painting. Both my kids are in a Waldorf school now and hope lazure one wall of each of their bedrooms! Thanks again!
