At Gwinnett County Jail, a second chance can mean the difference between a fresh start and the end of the road, for dog and man alike. Operation Second Chance is a groundbreaking program that pairs inmates with rescue dogs for training and rehabilitation that goes both ways. Since its founding in 2010, more than 90 dogs have been adopted into families from the program. And that number keeps growing.

This program is definitive proof that dogs of any breed, background and temperament can be rehabilitated and adopted into loving families. Belfast can learn a thing or two from this video, spread the word and help save Lennox!

I wanted to clarify from some of the comments that this program cost tax payers ZERO!! The rescue, Society of Humane Friends of Georgia, funds the program based off of donations. The rescue also handles all adoptions from the program. Also, we train with positive reinforcement regardless of the breed and it works. For more information visit jaildogs.org

where I live that would be illegal. No landlord can charge more if a person has pets, in fact it's against the law to discriminate against a tenant based on pets unless the pet is deemed dangerous or the person has more pets then the municipal limit (my city states no more then 3 dogs and 6 cats). This is why people need government.

That all has to do with government and local laws not being in place, and not private individuals (ie landlords who own apartment buildings). Where I live it is LAW not to discriminate pet owners on apartment applications. Landlords here cannot stop tenants from getting pets as long as they do not go over the limit (3 dogs and 6 cats per apartment). I am in Canada.

Where I live, there is 1 apartment that lets you have pets. It's $300 more than every other apartment in the area for the whole apartment, which is 5x what you have if you have roommates.

Of course, the one guy is in for cocaine, which is ridiculous.

My 'happy world' would be 'criminals' are actual dangerous people and we really like death row, and druggies get rehab (or we just let life go on, like tobacco)--and dogs were more affordable. :D

would you prefer for your dog to die when you leave him tied to a fence somewhere because you got a dog but didn't feel like finding an apartment that allows dogs?

this is so impressive! i live near gwinnett county, and for me to randomly find this video on youtube while looking for training tips -- this needs to be put on the news more and the program spread across the state. georgia has a terribly sad amount of abandoned dogs. we rescued two ~6 week old pups who were left in the small wooded area near our house, actually pretty close to the dekalb county jail. i am sharing this as much as i can! i hope there is one in every jail in the next few years!!
