  • Ricardo is playing on Backun made Leblancs.

  • @dreamwaves2rg

Have you ever heard Todd Levy play?

  • I first heard Ricardo in a warm-up room at the Woodwind and Brasswind in NYC. At the time, I didn't know who was playing, but I remember thinking - this is the best clarinetist I've ever heard ("creamy" sound and amazing tone color!). Someone then mentioned that he was going to audition for Philadelphia, and I knew he was going to win the job - Bravo Ricardo!

  • @CherylGlitz, also not too shiny (as brass or sax)...just right :-)

Exactly why I chose clarinet as my instrument. That said, the instrument is hard and some times even mysterious!

  • Wow how amazing I play and like him I love to.

  • HIS CLARINET IS SO PRETTY! omg!

  • Does anyone know of any other Ricardo footage?

  • Very happy for Ricardo, I know him since he was 13 or 14, beggining to learning to play the clarinet with one of the best teachers in the world, Mr. Leslie Lopez.

  • Bravo, Ricardo! What a brilliant player and the nicest guy you could imagine!

  • I love this guy....he is so funny! The reason why he chose clarinet: the right combination of keys and wood...priceless!!!

  • It is a cocobolo wood Leblanc Legacy, one of the only 3 that currently exist. (I was just in Vancouver at Morrie's shop a few weeks ago and played one of the other 2, which Mary Backun plays in the Vancouver Symphony).

For those who are interested, Backun is planning on releasing a cocobolo version of the Legacy for the commercial market in the coming year.
