Fasting is fundamentally a spiritual exercise. In order for it to be highly beneficial you should do with with spiritual/regenerative purposes in mind, not just as a diet or physical practice. Just as when you pray, you should choose a period of time when you will not be disturbed or interrupted. Try to enter into a meditative/prayer mood. Feed your spirit with wholesome reading and music, in contact with the cosmos/nature/creation.

@exsertED To detox is better, and faster to go into a 1 to 3 day dry fast, followed by a 1 to 3 days of water/juice fasting. Don't be scared the body has plenty of water to cover its needs from 1 to 7 days of dry fasting, provided you do not go to extremes of activity and sweating. Of course, before going into a long fasting is good to check with a professional to make sure that your body is ready for it.

WRONG! A one to three day dry fast is good for your system.. The body has plenty of water to cover its needs for several days, provided you do not go to extremes of activity and sweating. A dry fast will stop your digestive system, including your stomach, while if you keep drinking water, the stomach will have to remain active. The body, always extracts water from the colon, that's how the liquid stuff coming into the colon gets dry; otherwise you will expel liquid, like when you have diarrhea.

Im not too sure how people do dry fasting but ill tell you this much. I HAVE DRY FASTED FROM 4 AM UNTIL 7:30 PM 30 DAYS DURING THE MONTH OF RAMADAN and every now and then. IT IS HEALTHY AND THE BEST WAY TO DETOX. IT IS THE ORIGINAL WAY TO FAST. THE BEST.

dry fast? hhmmm, in the Marines we referred to it as dehydration and it's 24 karat miserable transposing from exhaustion to stroke oh yes, and every bit as life threatening as the working end of a rifle

I say, if you don't want to drink water, then don't. It just leaves more for me, and you'll find out soon enough how devastating dehydration is on the human body. In fact, it'll only take about 4 days of not drinking water to figure out how awful it can be. Another 2 or 3 more days after that, and you won't have to worry about being dehydrated ever again. So put down that bottle of water and pick up your shovel and start digging you're own grave. Idiots.

Dry fasting is more powerful and more intense than water fasting or juice fasting. I just completed a 3 day dry fast and although I was NEVER thirsty, it was very intense but I feel better for it. However, meat eaters experience great thirst on a dry fast.. The rule of thumb is this: One day of dry fasting is equal to 3 days of water fasting, and 3 days of water fasting is equivalent to 9 days of juice fasting.

Thanks for the advice. I def am gonna drink water i am on hour 50 of my fast and i haven't had much to drink.

I needed that O.O
I've got bulimia, and I've been fasting on and off a lot of times. And yeah, I haven't been drinking that much water (not because I'm afraid to gain from it, I just get very tired and bloathed). I'll try to eat more fiber and drink a lot of water to get my system going :)
i have only briefly looked at the pro ana stuff uploaded because its less about the eating disorder and more about badly affected people trying to (albeit sadly) get other people into their negative way of thinking, unfortunately its very damaging, its such a massive subject to affectively comment on so briefly, and no i was brought up abroad...

oh also, you are right about most drinks will keep you alive, but please give a thought to FEELING healthy as well as being alive...? once you render yourself into a state of feeling ill its like climbing a large hill on rollerskates-slippy.

no im not from either, thankyou for your comments 'hildaminogue' drinking water is essential, ive been bulemic for over a decade and regardless of what you drink, in the end you will get damage in your throat and your teeth will rot out if you are sick alot...not to mention the destabilisation of how your gut works-its like anything that has to run backwards for too long when its supposed to run forewards...it will go wrong.

you must drink water, mineral is best, spring water is basically tap put in a bottle, about 8 glasses a day is good, avoid any drinks when eating (half an hour before and after at least)as it dilutes your digestive juices, i forgot to say as well as taking this water from your colon a result of this is constipation-because of water loss...
