  • I only have the quarterfinal match in an edited version of 49 minutes!!!

  • Laura can you upload that match the quarterfinal match vs monica Seles??????

  • Sorry, but I can't because it will take too much time!!!

  • That's OK... Jenn defeated Seles when it mattered in 2001 when she went on to beat Davenport and Hingis to win her first slam... very impressive indeed!

  • Cool, Thanks for this.I remember watching this 15 year old kid beat the world#1 and feeling so sure she'd be there in the next 18 mos. or so.Jen finally got to #1 10 years later.

  • Amazing - a #1 player losing to a 15-year-old!

    And Seles did it TWICE!!

  • @Kallytom oh yeah, running around your backhand to hit forehands is better. SARCASM.

  • I so agree with you. indeed, Graf was not herself from mid 90 onwards, but in spring 92, she was as good as ever as her FO and Wimbledon 92 runs show. And indeed, Seles still maintained the upper hand because she had improved so much. The way she played at the AO 93 shows that as well with better serve than ever, some fine volleying and her tireless groudstrokes.

I so wish Parche had shot himself instead of harming monica...

  • everything would have been different anyway. Indeed, Graf's run at the AO 94 was fantastic, but she had played flawlessly in 93 as well, up to the final where seles showed who was number one. so it's hard to tell...

  • Regarding Graf's slump I actually dont believe she was in a slump anymore at the time Seles was stabbed. I do believe as a casual she was in a legitimate slump in 90-91 which opened the door some for the Seles rise and others. However the last year before the stabbing she had returned to top form and Seles still won 3 of the last 4 slams and beat Graf in 2 of the 3 finals. Seles had just improved that much that even back in form Graf was having trouble getting back to the top.

  • Well the period I think she might have gone closer to winning nothing would have been 97-98 as this is where her fathers situation and injury situation became worst. Then in 99 it would be a matter of coming back vs some of the new contenders plus Hingis. This wouldnt have diminished her impact on Graf much as Graf won virtually everything from 93-96. Graf was mostly finished with injuries apart from a mini resurgence in late 98-99, and won only 1 slam after 96 anyway herself.

  • Well I would normally expect Seles to beat Graf in Australia but in the 94 final Graf played one of her greatest matches ever and beat Sanchez Vicario 6-0, 6-2. I know Sanchez isnt Seles but she is a much tougher matchup for Graf than Seles, and Graf hardly ever beats her close to that easily. So in the same form I think Graf probably beats Seles in that particular final. Granted it is hard to tell if she would be in that form without the increased confidence of winning the last 3 slams.

  • if she was the better player, then why would she stay second to seles until a deranged man stabbed her? Because seles was the better player at that point. That's all.

  • I feel that monica would have bee affected by her father's problems, but not to the point that she would go from winning virtually everything to nothing (like the graf fanatics claim). Steffi had her own share of problems and still managed to win 2 wimbledons when she was supposed to be "in a slump"...

So yeah, the whole 93-97 era would have looked different.

  • correct, but one slam is still a slam, and if there is one where seles was not to be challenged, it's the australian. I agree with you about the French as well.
