I think what this movie really had going against it was the outstanding chemistry between Robert Cummings and Deanna. Given this, it's pretty hard to believe that he and Joan would end up together. Besides that, most of the family beides Penny and the father come off as fairly hateful. The mother is kind of a witch, and somehow Penny gets blamed for being a brat when Joan forgets her fiance and essentially steals a guy that Penny admittedly loves. I much prefer Deanna's other films.

It's strange how this movie affects different Deanna fans. I think it's a fantastic movie and some think it's her worst. I saw this film 10 times and think of watching it more. And there is "Up in Central Park" that I saw only once.

This ending kind of bugs me I couldn't buy how Joan ends up with Robert Cummings and Kay ends up with the other guy. I guess I like the ending of Three Smart Girls a little too much because I like to think Kay ended up with Ray Milland and Joan married the first guy from the first movie.

This is so awesome! It's so much different than I thought this sequel is suppose to be.

It's just that, Penny's still the one who doesn't get a boy in the end.

Deanna is super adorable in this btw!

Deanna Durbin had an extraordinary singing voice - I have been a fan of hers for 15 years now and this is one of the movies I have not seen yet - am very glad I did watch it - great story and Charles Winninger was brilliant, too

These films depended on contrivance. That was part of their breezy charm. Deana sure is great.
