  • I've got a 2.3 and when floored it shifts into second at 46-7 MPH and 3rd at 69-71, why is the gearing so diffrent? Granted diffrent engines, but mine has less power.

  • @puremaplesyrup22

What year is your Escape? In 2009 Ford replaced the dated 4 speed auto with this 6 speed auto.

  • @puremaplesyrup22

OK well first of all, the 2011 4 cylinder escape has a 2.5L 4 cylinder, the 2.3 was replaced for 08 I believe. I guess the gearing is just different as both engines have a 6 speed auto.

  • @xoquixxoqafxo The window sticker says 2.3...

  • @puremaplesyrup22

that must be a typo then lol bc on Fords website it says 2.5L engine. The 2.3 was retired and the 2.5 replaced it a couple years ago.

    Ford > GM :P

Typically DOHC or SOHC engines are capable of high rpms. You must be used to OHC (pushrod) motors, those type of motors typically cannot withstand high rpms

  • @xoquixxoqafxo the only time i see that to be true is in Jap cars. when it comes to american cars they seem to all shift at the same RPM's. take my 3800 push rod 6 from my grand prix vs this escape. the escape shifts at 6500 RPM's while my 3800 shifts at 6200 RPM's. When it comes to american motors the pushrod does just fine, only in the Jap market would it fail horribly, But thats just me... i guess im just stuck in the 80's with my Crossfire and Port Tuned Injection motors. =D

  • My wife had a 2003 escape 4x4 with the v6, now she has a 2010 escape, the new one blows the old one away in terms of acceleration and comfort

  • @puremaplesyrup22 Wow even the first gen's were quick but Man these are really fast. I want a Mariner :)

  • It doesn't sound as good as my 2004 3.0. Is your dohc

  • woah i have a v6 2002 and that is way faster than mine

  • I so wish that this model (V6 + 6 speed) made it to Australia instead of the sucky 4 speed + 4 cyl.

  • Mine is louder seriously

  • I have a 2.0L 4 cylinder manual escape. That thing is a DOG! I want one of the new 3.0. That looks nice (and quick!)

  • @FusionBoy2010

    yup, exactly the same

  • @94Johnnyboy1 not at all
