I think the passion of the synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) are really modeled after the deaths of Paul and the Apostles. They were the ones who were betrayed by their fellow Jews, handed over to Rome, executed (after the Great Fire of Rome and the Roman government began persecuting Christians), and whose teachings were spiritually resurrected by their scattered followers.
