as "crazy" as petey greene may have been for his antics, one ethic he never abandoned that rang true with the material I've seen in the movie/clips and heard is, he understood that the things he was saying were not just influential, but he reflected different personalities from the black diaspera. At a time when people thought we were a monolithic people, he showed a range of nuance otherwise ignored in black culture.
