Obama Street Party Seattle

A Spontaneous street party broke out just a few minutes after President elect Obama spoke in Chicago. @ 2500 people ended up at Broadway and Pike in the heart of the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. It was still going on when we left at one am.

In some online communities I go to, people compared the partying after Obama's victory to the Return Of The Jedi ending in that each represented a major victory over something.

Ironic, because as the cracked.com article "6 most depressing happy endings" argues, the RotJ ending doesn't imply as much of a victory over the empire as it seemed to. Similarly, the Obama victory didn't imply as much of a victory over the far right as it seemed to.
