This is really beautiful. I'm white, and I'm from Texas, so I see racists down here everywhere; in fact, my daddy, sister, brother, and I are probably the only ones with no prejudice at all in us (and I have a large extended family).
I never have liked Black History Month (I think it should all be incorporated into our everyday history), but I've never thought about the history of black people *before* slavery. You've really opened my eyes there, so thank you.
