Kurt and Sybilla's anarchist wedding. We were married by Stephen and Margie Zumbrun (founders of Piradical Productions) in Sybilla's parent's backyard in Anderson Indiana on June 12th 2010. We were married by a couple because we believe that everyone has equal connection to God and so an ordained minister was not necessary and who better to guide us through the process then a couple who has been through it? We were not legally married to be in solidarity with same sex couples in Indiana who have love like ours but are not allowed the certificate and legal rights of marriage. The symbol on our ring tattoo is the lovarchy symbol. It is a mix between the circle A anarchy symbol and the traditional symbol of love, the heart. It represents the idea of a society based on love and not on money, power and authority. These ideas are what brought us and keep us together. We wrote the vows and worked with the Zumbruns on creating a ceremony which was simple and reflected our beliefs of the teachings of Christ, anarchism, egalitarianism, community, service and care for the earth. Yay! We're married now!
This song was our wedding march and it is by Mischief Brew.

I think their point, fagworks, is that you don't need state recognition to be legit. A wedding certificate does not equal love. My parents have been together 35 years, and never married. My boyfriend's marriage was a disaster, but it was legal! Which is more important?
Also, I think Kurt and Sybbie wanted to recognize the millions of same sex couples who don't have the choice to marry.
