@newcarhassan Actually in both methods death comes from asphixya, the only difference is if the person is concious or not; technically speaking, a person could survive a hanging if they get down inmediately after the snap, in a vegetative state of course, as some pople actually do.

very true... I was just about to say the same.. when I saw that it's already been said.. in real hanging people die as there neck snaps as a result of the jerk which damages the nerves system killing the person.. more than acutal choaking..

What people fail to realize was that your body weight remained on your neck and that your neck can easily be tweaked, regardless if you didn't go through an actual hanging whereas your dropped through the ground as opposed to coming off of a horse. I like it and everyone else should as well.
