This scene really captures what it means to be Bruce Wayne. He's swallowed up by his own huge, gothic house, the cold wind howling outside. Sitting all alone in the darkness of an oversized room, pining away for parents who are nothing but dust in their coffins. Then the bat signal blasts through the gaping ship portal of a window and snaps him out of it; his true self has work to do, and the paper thin alter ego looks sad to go. The way he takes a step or two towards the light is haunting.
