@kathryn605 the company you're with checks in with you all the time, and its a very sheltered place, you have to have a boat license and they teach you this before you head off from Airlie Beach. This way you can explore every island at your own pace and see everything you want to. Another idea for a trip is to stay in Cairns (which is beautiful!) and take trips into whitsundays and Great barrier reef as it is very close to these. Not sure what you're planning on doing, these are just ideas!

@kathryn605 biggest island and the most developed) but there is also a resort on daydream island and south molle (which is incredibly beautiful - they have very good buffet lunch meals all the time at a good price that includes all the aussie massive prawns, local seafood of a very good standard, and also hot food) But another option is to hire a catamaran and sail around the whitsundays (if you're up for it!) Ive done this for 10 days before when my parents visited and it was amazing!

@kathryn605 okay well there are a few things. Im not sure about international flights into the whitsundays from LA (for instance, where they would go to!) I have a feeling that the closest international airport is in Cairns. Also, it depends how long you plan to visit. There are great hotels and resorts on Hamilton Island (some are pretty expensive though!) and hamilton island would definately be the most obvious choice to stay if you're planning on staying for a long time (because it's the
