@504Resident No. There are just certain things that don't apply to us, things that have a deeper meaning, and things that aren't meant to be taken literally. You just have to have the wisdom to know what they mean.
@pollinnaful lol now i know you have never read the bible. slaves were a common part of society in the days of the old testament as well as the new testament. There are instructions in the bible on how to treat your slaves. The bible was used to justify the enslavement of thousands of africans 300 years ago. The bible is false and you are apparently never going to look at it objectively.
@504Resident I don't agree with you :) The bible is the best selling book in the world. There's a reason why it is. It's because it's the word of god. No other book can give you peace, wisdom, and joy. When has christianity enslaved anyone? I don't feel enslaved. God takes the chains off of me. He free's me. If anyone ever felt enslaved being a christian, no offence, but I don't think they were doing it right in the first place.
@pollinnaful oh and one more thing, not to try to be a spammer or an asshole. but, jesus' story is very similar to previous dieties made up before him. you should look some up.
@pollinnaful i was raised to believe the bible. so i understand where you are coming from. To be honest man, i am not misreading the bible. My opinion doesn't matter when the bible lays it out there. The bible is inherently wrong and will always be inherently wrong. Whether it is from a literal point of view or from a moral teaching point of view. it is wrong. period. Christianity is a religion that has been used to kill and enslave millions of people.
@504Resident I've read it too. Of course you're going to view the bible that way because you don't want to view it in the way it's actually written.. the whole point of the bible. I'm going to be honest, I'm not a bible expert. I just read the bible how God opens it to me. You read it by your opinion of God and Christianity, so you pick out anything you think is wrong with it.
@pollinnaful i've read it. god directs the killing of other people as well as the enslavement of others as long as they were not Israelite. it's all there. it says clearly what women can and cannot do in church. have you read the bible?
