When you check the flight controls remember you are looking for complete freedom of movement with no binding - start with the yoke forward and left, then rotate all the way right, then all the way aft, then rotate all the way left again, and finally full forward. That is one method to ensure complete freedom of movement. It might just save your life one day (especially if you fly a tandem seat aircraft. Just a bit a friendly advice from a CFI.
