Beaufort Memorial Hospital surgeon Dr. Deanna Mansker discusses gall bladder problems and surgery options. Symptoms may include pain and cramping, usually on the right side or middle of the belly. Gall bladder disease typically occurs in females, specifically women who have had children. Limiting your consumption of fatty foods may help prevent gall bladder problems. Treatment for gall bladder disease may result in laparoscopic surgery, but patients are usually released from the hospital within one day and may be back to work within a couple of weeks of the surgery.
