With the financial support of the Government of Japan, UNIDO developed this project to demonstrate the benefits that small-scale soybean processing and the consumption of soybean-based foods can bring to rural communities. Accordingly, UNIDO in collaboration with the Kenyan Government equipped three small soybean processing centres in Bungoma, Kisumu and Migori, areas that are suitable for soybean farming but also areas where malnutrition is common. The project provided training in soybean processing for the staff of the centers with the technical assistance of Japanese experts.
