You CANNOT use oil based paint on James Hardie siding...I bet that is the problem here.

They were in such a hurry to get the color plus material out the door and into the market they threw the quality specs right in the garbage can. I know, I worked for Hardie for over 7 years.

I sell paint and have read the specs for painting hardie board and know that if they aren't followed you can count on problems

Don't be so quick to point the finger. You can have moisture getting behind the siding, a moisture source inside the house migrating through the wall, a direct splash bouncing off adjacent surfaces, improper gutters, probably painted it yourself and didn't prime first, thinned the paint, builder let the product get saturated in a stack before installation, etc. It's always more complicated than you think.

Yep hardie is a the best siding around untill it gets wet.

Thanks tb404 -
I have been in contact with JH since this video and their inspector identified some areas where the builder did not properly flash the siding contributing to the moisture problem. I am working with them to resolve the problem.
Big improvement in customer service.
