Spirish57's comment is not entirely off, the fields are very related, especially corporate finance where you have to know a lot of accounting. However, all though you study much of the same stuff for both fields, accounting is more like studying law and finance is more math intensive. Then finance can branch out into much different paths, like investment banking, portfolio management, stuff like that which relies heavily on the math intensive aspect of finance. My Source: BA Finance.
I think im switching out of electrical and computer engineering to finance. Honestly I need a job right out of school and business interests me just as well as engineering but im so pissed off when i hear 4.0 students with experience are being laid off. What am i supposed to do when my student loans have to be paid off. Eff this crappy economy.
Finance is about future growth of a company and speculation of markets. Accounting is more about present financial positioning and accounts for what the business has in its financial columns.
what's the differences between accountancy and finance?
just a question, they seem very similar. I know accounting is about keeping track of money and finance is about managing monetary resources, but what else is the difference?
