Aired in 2004 as a celebration of A Prairie Home Companion's 30th year on air.

This part of the show is pretty much my view of american culture, and most definitely my view of skilled musicians.

to Garrison Keillor (because it's of course you that reads this and takes down copyrighted videos)
this may be illegal to some degree, but there doesn't seem to be too many good videos on youtube or the internet in general that give a good idea of what A Prairie Home Companion really is, so i think leaving it up is a fine idea.
not that I've seen any videos taken down by the public radio...

And for all yall that want to see the rest, you can order the full dvd on amazon

  • I ask you, who save GK could manage to string together in a continuous musical stream of consciousness ducks, swamp creatures, George V, gopher entrails, and a parody of "Nearer My God to Thee" involving a flea-bitten canine named after the last Julio-Claudian Emperor? It's just too marvellous, too marvellous for words, if I may do a little licensed "fair use" of my own.

  • every saturday at 5 im listening

  • I'm guessing this was filmed because it was the 30th anniversary. It's not usually a TV show, right

  • Love Garrison!!!

  • 0:40 Lucius Malfoy?

  • The instrumental intro up to 1:22 is the happiest music I have ever heard.

  • Pairing "The Yellow Rose of Texas" with Emily Dickinson (aka "Squire Dickinson's half-crack'd daughter") is alone a surreal accomplishment.

  • @shaneu1 and don't forget Beethoven's Ninth and the William Tell overture.

  • What a prick.

  • Absolutely wonderful. Mr. Keillor and "PHC" are bona fide national treasures.
