Army Medic - KIA - Iraq Memorial 1

My only daughter CPL Rachael Hugo's memorial service held in Bayji, Iraq at FOB Summerall.
Rachael was a Combat Medic for the USAR. Known as "Combat Barbie," she regularly volunteered to go outside the wire. She always wanted to be with "her guys." After being out on mission for a week, she was told to stay back for R&R. After hearing they were going out again, she forcefully volunteered to go on that mission, her last missson. She then insisted upon riding in the fist vehicle. She knew it is the first to be hit by IED's.
She was Killed-in-Action that day by an IED on Oct. 5th, 2007

No, her original unit was the 79th MP CO of Rochester, MN, but she was cross-leveled to the 303rd MP CO out of Jackson, MI when she deployed to Iraq.

Mr and Mrs Hugo I am very sorry for your lost. As I am sure you are well aware you are the proud parents of a ture American Hero not only because she decided to serve her Country but also because she decided to be a very Brave medic. I can share in her want to be with "my" guys and that is what makes a true Medic, One that will always put the needs and the safety of his or her Soldiers above thier own. You have my prayers and well wishes.

sir i am 16 who has a deep interest into the military but unfortunately i cannot be accepted into the military to go into the field on account of my medical conditions i would love to fight but i cant i am sincerely sorry for your loss i was unable to fight back the tears in the first minute i am just relieved to know that your daughters soul will spend a peaceful eternity in heaven for her courageous acts she performed in the field she will be remembered in our hearts. Sir and Ma'am. I hope the pride you feel for your daughter's dedication and sacrifice for her country ease some of the pain from your hearts. She, like others, wrote a blank check, offering her life, to give protection and care of "her" soldiers and "her" country. I am so, so sorry for your loss. The world, like you, will miss this wonderful young lady.

I'm a woman in the VA NG. Just wanted to tell you, your daughter is still impacting peoples lives; i know she impacted mine. Your daughter was a special role model to men and women out there. I'm proud to call her my ng sister. May the Lord bless your family. Thank you for sharing this! Rachael is rejoicing with the Lord God Almighty! She lived her life serving. My brother was in the 1/505... his name is on the monument depicted at the beginning of the video with Rachels. He was KIA on the same 06-07 deployment.

Very, very moving. I myself am training as a medic in the NZ army and this really, really shows the the height of dedication and effort I hope to achieve. Forgive me if this statement takes from her and her family's loss. God bless.
