Known to be one of the most influential songwriters of the 20th century, Hank Williams was posthumously awarded in 2010 a Special Citation by the Pulitzer Prize Board for his craftsmanship as a songwriter.

Moderated by Pippin Parker, Director of The New School for Drama, the panel will discuss The Last Ride, a newly-released, independent film about legendary singer/songwriter Hank Williams. Inspired by the mysterious final days of Williams' mercurial life, The Last Ride is the story of his final road trip through the bleak Appalachian countryside of 1950s America.

Panelists include:
- Harry Thomason, director of The Last Ride, award-winning director/producer of TV series including Designing Women, mini-series such as The Blue and the Grey, and director of events including both Presidential Inaugurations of President William Clinton.

- Jett Williams, Hank Williams' daughter, singer/songwriter (with four songs on the film soundtrack), and the award winning author of Ain't Nothin' As Sweet As My Baby: The Story of Hank Williams' Lost Daughter.

- Benjy Gaither, film producer, son of the Gospel legends Bill and Gloria Gaither, and creator of the soundtrack for The Last Ride.

- Michael Anthony, radio personality on WHPC 90.3FM (Long Island/New York City) for more than fifteen years. Through his programs The Unforgettables (jazz/pop standards) and The Country Show (classic country) he has built a reputation as one of the most respected hosts in the music community. His vast knowledge of 20th century popular music has not gone unnoticed by the artists who create the music as more than 500 well known figures from the world of pop, jazz, rock, r&b and country have sat down with Mr. Anthony for in depth biographical interviews. Many of his interviews have been archived at various institutes including; the archives for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

This event is sponsored by The New School, with special thanks to Oxford American Magazine.
