O Majhi Re
An ancient boatman tune also knowng as Bhatiali, this tune has been sung with different lyrics by boatmen in bengal since generations; used by SD Burman as O Majhi Re in Khushboo in 1975.

after watching perhaps the 6th Coke studio India song i figured what is wrong

the problem with the indian chapter of Coke studio is

1. that the producer is leslie from colonial cousins.

2. too many bollywood playback singers

3. the house band is virtually non interactive

What i'd like to see

1. a producer willing to actually give folk music a contemporary arrangement

2. more pop / rock artistes' participation, less bollywood playback singers

3. the house band's participation

It's amazing that people will turn anything into a political issue. What are you? NUTS? I'm Indian, but love Jugni. And I love this. I have tons of Pakistani friends as well as Indian friends. This is one heck of a beautiful creation. Who the hell cares if it was Indian or Pakistani? Seriously... c'mon guys. Lets not stoop down to the level of our politicians.

This was a good composition. Shaan voice didnt really fit in as much as i expected. But never the less, great team work. They are both great talents, wish them continue success.

Shaan spoiled this song........Anyone who are not acquainted with Bengali folk song  or Assamese folk song will not understand this......Just listen to that 'sara ratra'...he sang like a unprofessional ...like playback singers...spoiling the mood of the song......I do not want to use bad words......but I feel like using one or two.....Sourav Moni is just too good ....Shaan should have understood that everyone has a limitation......his voice and mannerism just did not suit this song....

Shan has disappointed me with no energy and intensity that would have done justice to this song. While I like Moni's part very much.
