It depends partly on what you're coaching and what the player ability level is (and how many coaches/assistants you have) as to whether human or a robot is better for feeding the exercise. (e.g. if you have 2 complete beginners working together they might not be able to rally - robot ?)
@Serpentem Don't think that's true. Our club robot can be set to a FREQUENCY and SPEED of ball that are ridiculously quick (even for our top players). It's harder, too, e.g. if you are varying the direction at a medium/quick speed, as with a robot you don't see any body movement/stroke preparation (e.g. back-swing of the bat) - you get some sort of clue from a human oppo. Multi-ball is good as timothyjesus says when a human feeder can vary more things in a single run, e.g. spin.
