Fess Elisha Parker, Jr. (August 16, 1924 -- March 18, 2010) was an 6'6" American film and television actor best known for his portrayals of Davy Crockett in Walt Disney 1955-56 TV mini-series and as TV's Daniel Boone from 1964-70.
Davy Crockett is a five part serial which aired on ABC in one-hour episodes on the Disneyland series, the series stars Fess Parker as Davy Crockett and Buddy Ebsen as George Russel.
The first three episodes of the serial were edited together as the 1955 theatrical film Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier. This series and film are known for the catchy theme song, "The Ballad of Davy Crockett". It was filmed in color at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park at the Mountain Farm Museum adjacent to the visitor center at Oconaluftee near Qualla Reservation's entrance and Janns Conejo Ranch, California.

Fess and Davy first became my heroes in 1954 when I was 5 years old and I still love and admire them both! Where are men like them today?

Enjoyed listening to this very much,especially after Fess Parker has passed away,saw this on,Disneyland,1954-1955,inspired my interest in Texas history,just before i started Kindergarden,Sept 6,1955,watched on,Wonderful World of Color in 1970's,later had VHS copy in 1980"s.
