I have not seen any 32nd or 16th note sweeps or spiders done on the drum set so I thought I would experiment. Also split hertas and there are allot of paradiddle diddles on the snare and swept between toms cymbals and snare.
I like messing around with odd time and mixing it in with triple and duple meter. There is an electronic pad to the right I'm playing the melody on. Im just jamming and making it up as I go so excuse the mistakes stick clicks and some timing issues. I thought I would tape myself this is the first day in about two years I have sat down and played due to two accidents in 08 so I am rusty. . I'm back to normal and excited to be back on the set.
I have been asked what is a spider?
A spider is a sequence of tap 5 stroke rolls (also sometimes known as a 6 stroke roll) with the diddles bouncing between the two middle toms. It's a drum corps tenor thing although on tenors the positions of the drums are different than on the drum set. It goes Right hand crosses over left for the first note on the top drum then it is Left Left bounce between 3rd and 2nd tom then the second bounce is a follow through Right Right between the 3rd and 2nd tom followed by the left cross over tap on the 4th drum then it alternates Left Left bounce between 2nd and 3rd tom followed by a Right Right bounce between the 2nd and 3rd toms followed by a cross over tap on the top tom. It just keeps alternating. It is at 7:54 on the video and a couple other places.
I'm looking to play in a band again here in Orlando if anyone is interested.
@TheUnderClassmenRule The sound is from the video camera I was using. I should have done it more professionally but I was just messing around and improving.
