A group of paddlers, all members of the Lower Columbia Canoe Club, paddle the Tatshenshini River in 2007 into its confluence with the Alsek River and out to Dry Bay for pick up by a plane. The trip starts in the Yukon, passes through a bit of BC, then finishes in Alaska. We were extremely fortunate with weather, particularly towards the end of the trip. The big peak you see in the video is Mount Fairweather, which is known actually for foul weather and not being seen. This video concentrates mostly on the canoes that went, though we had a Cat and two rafts. Canoes were self support though and carried their personal gear and food.

  • Yes, we did run the first day canyon in our canoes. Loaded canoes at that. I'd say the rapids at 2,600 cfs that day were Class 4 at the highest. We boat scouted everything. Some of the earlier photos in the video of canoes in rapids are shots from in the canyon. We'll be up north again this year as well--on the Nahanni.
