@SEVFEST: Very privileged indeed. I never saw The Doors live and don't even know if they ever had a concert in Germany. Anyway, Jim Morrison died before my parents allowed me to visit rock concerts :-)
If two songs can make you a fan, why not! I also recommend the opera "Street Scene" by Kurt Weill (Lyrics by Elmer Rice und Langston Hughes). Drama to the utmost and great jazzy sound.

@Marlene55M .... LOL I was privileged to see the Doors perfom in 1968 in Asbury Park, New Jersey. They did a fabulous job, yes they did Whiskey Bar (Alabama Song) that night. btw I always was a fan of Mack The Knife and I guess I am a fan of Brecht/Weill now too, Right?
-
@SEVFEST: Welcome *wink*. A lot of artists covered songs by Brecht/Weill. The most famous might be "Mack The Knife", originally a song in the "Dreigroschenoper" (The Threepenny Opera). So why not the Doors? They did a great job :-)

@Marlene55M ..... after watching that I wondered why the Doors even covered it,,,, It's much better in it's element, Thank you for the education
-
@Marlene55M ..... Thank you I will check out the Brecht piece, I will try and find it
-
@Marlene55M LOL Thanks for understanding, Enjoy your music

@SEVFEST: If it helps, you might want to read the piece by Brecht "Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny" in which this song appears. But that, of course, is not a necessity. :-)

@SEVFEST: LOL... I guess it's also a matter of taste. About Marianne sounding drunk - agree. She's on her way to the next whiskey bar :-)

@Marlene55M ....... Listened to it again, sorry sounds too broadway.... and too flat,,, if it makes it any better for you she has the moment.... she sounds Drunk LOL again sorry I don't care for it.........

@SEVFEST: The Doors did a very good version, but calling it better than this, you didn't understand Brecht/Weill. Marianne did.
Raw and poetic. Brecht would have loved her.
