Saturday May 16, 2009 the Choctaw Nation commemorated the infamous "Trail of Tears" that their OUR ancestors endured to reach Indian Territory. What is not commonly known OR taught is that the Choctaw Nation as well as the other so called Five Civilized Tribes brought enslaved people of African and African Native American ancestry. Our history is your history.

  • yea but I'm an descendent but I'm African American. Am I apart of the Nation. No. My Grandmother born from Smith in Clarksville, TX , one of the town on the route to Oklahoma. She is not part of your Dawes Roll. My mom grew up in Watonga, OK. Don't know but that sound kinda Native? when will u give us the mixed slaves of your great nation. The rights we deserve. Sound kinda whitey to me.

  • The Irish people remember that at the height of the great famine which killed a million irish , the Choctaw nation raised money to send to Ireland to help. This marks you as decent and honourable human beings. Only a few years after the trail of tears you found it in your hearts to help others. God Bless you.

  • peace
