well the behaviour code says that a woman should never raise from her sitting to greet a man, but the other way around

@GermanOperaSinger She was born in 1922, so she was 45.

SHE IS AN OPERA STAR:)
-
who is he...????

@pearlmuth3 what do you mean, she was 44 years old in that clip so how old do you want her to look. Today the media continues to brainwash women into getting plastic sugery in their thirties and forties but it is not necessary. It is not even necessary in your fifties but the doctors have to make money.

Beautiful woman, stunning voice and incredibly charming- even with the idiosyncratic English- she's still adorable.

right now, i dont care if she's one of the worst or best singers ever, all i know is that she was so pretty my god! what a doll, i have the hots for tebaldi
-
-- Here she would have been around 53 or 54. --
Oh, no: 43 or 44.

Renata Tebaldi was self-conscious of her English and often nervous before performance.
-
It's probably a nervous blink. I wonder if she did it on stage or not.

That's right, in good, old-fashioned manners, which have sadly fallen out of favour in the "Bros-versus-'Ho's"-US, would dictate that women remain seated when me approach, and men rise when women enter the room.
I agree ..I believe the woman is not meant to get up from her chair to greet a gentleman.
She should remain seated and let him reach for her hand. That's how I've always done it ..I would seem to forward or agressive for the woman to stand and shake hands

Indeed, and from what I've heard Mme. Tebaldi was a kind, down to earth lady who treated everyone like they were her family. Here she would have been around 53 or 54.
