Russ Carlson and The High Steppers were the Crown Records' house band. Not much more I was so far able to find.

  • I bet this "House Band" just filled the house they were GOOD!!!

  • 'Course, most house bands then played publishers' stock arrangements (free for promo purposes).

Good sidemen too - all NY session guys, tho not usually the "first call" group.

  • Great orchestration!

  • This is based on the 1931 Jimmie Grier arrangement. Grier got his start as the arranger for Gus Arnheim's famous Cocoanut Grove Orchestra in Los Angeles for whom he also played Clarinet and Sax.
