  • Thanks for posting this... My dad loved this song and when I was little he would play it over-and-over again, now he has been gone for 10 Years and I can't ask him about these cool songs.

  • @Whyskerz It was not a hit in the US either when it was released here in the summer of 1983 (peaking at #46 here). The problem to me were major changes in music tastes that were happening in '83 that would become far more noticeable a few years later.

  • @Peeves888 I think this technically is the original version of this song (as it was recorded in 1982), but as noted by others it actually was taken from Beethoven.

  • @SWAT2909 The sad thing is that it never got the recognition it really deserved.

Someone should look into getting this song re-released in the US. If it were, I suspect this would be a MUCH bigger hit now than the #46 it peaked at here in 1983.

  • @JBM425 Also, there was a big shift in music tastes in 1983 thanks particularly in New York to the debut of WHTZ-FM (Z100 at 100.3) and the slow flip of WPLJ-FM (at 95.5) from Rock to Top 40. This song got lost in the shuffle and didn't become a hit (peaking here at #46) because of that. It probably would be a much bigger hit in 2012-'13 if it were re-released as a single as opposed to when it originally came out.

  • @TypesALot I'm guessing in the UK (the song in the US only peaked at #46 in the summer of 1983).

  • @SlimeTron5000 Actually, this was early in the MTV era (MTV had debuted in the US in 1981). The real problem was there was a big shift in music tastes the year this came out in the US (1983), especially in New York with the debut of Z-100 (WHTZ-FM at 100.3) and the slow flip of WPLJ-FM (95.5) from Rock to Top 40 that left this song behind. Were it re-released now, it probably would be a much bigger hit than the #46 it peaked at in '83.

  • I just spent the last hour or so trying to find this song... I couldn't remember who sang it! But I knew the name and kept coming up with different Midnight Blues. Finally!!!! I am so happy to have found it...brings back many memories of good times past.

  • Soooo loving this ..... it has been such a long time between drinks :)))))

  • Remember taping this off the radio 30 yrs ago..Loved it then, love it now..thanks
