The expression is firing ON all cylinders. And it's talking about engine cylinders. If one of the cylinders isn't firing, the engine doesn't put out enough power, and often, begins shaking the whole car like a sketchy carnival ride. You can ride in my car sometime to experience this effect.
So, in short, I'm ashamed of you on both linguistic and technological levels.
