@vividdescription it is a recreation of american pop culture from the '40's/'50's, it is done wherever people feel like doing it.

That dance is done in UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
Not popular in Canada and USA, but perhaps we can
change that.

Why are the girls dancing in wiggle skirts? I thought that the pumps and capri pants and poodle skirts were worn, or is this just a stereotypical thought?

In Australia the Rockabilly dancers generally wear pencil skirts or capri pants and stilettos and the Rock'n'roll dancers wear poodle skirts and flat shoes.
