@Keightler Not so with grass-fed animals. Humans can't eat grass, and most areas where grass-fed animals are raised can't support any other type of agriculture, (but they're usually biotically more diverse than any farm, organic or otherwise).

@MeghanTheVeghan Good point, but to remove yourself from the 'whole equation' you'd have to live in the forest and hunt/gather your food. The term 'factory farming' applies to agriculture too and to think that crop agriculture doesn't kill (exterminate is a better word) animals on a grand scale is naive in the extreme. (even organic farms kill great swathes of animals when clearing the land - never to return).

@MeghanTheVeghan Cheap, corn-fed, brutalized meat IS a problem, but the obesity epidemic is driven by cheap, processed carbohydrates (esp. grain) - not meat.

@fuckwackemcees which is why countless vegan companies are all enrolled in the GMO-free project to ENSURE that the environment is NOT being harmed by our cruelty-free food products? nice try, but most vegans know more about GMOs than your average standard american diet eater.

You forgot "I feel so sorry for you." I got that one at work the other day!!! UGH.

No Meat?I dont think a human should be treated like this :(
-
@fuckwackemcees oh yeah because by buying meat, which takes about three times the crops to produce for a meal, you guys are so much better.

Plants have souls too

Yeah, I bet people give you shit for not eating meat.
Rest assured though, many vegans choose to give us shit for eating meat.
You just find douchebags on both sides of the fence.
@backabeyond Well, I can't speak for all vegans, but I agree with you about people in the past needing to eat meat, etc. But I'm a vegan NOW because of the situation our planet (and our economy) is in NOW. Early homo sapiens didn't have subsidized factory farms, nor did they have an obesity epidemic driven (in part) by cheap, corn-fed, brutalized meat.

@MrsDrewMalino Well, I'm environmentally and economically motivated in my veganism. The way eggs and milk are produced is just as harmful (if not more so, in the case of milk and cheese) than some meats. I figured I would remove myself from the whole equation; since I don't support our country's dependency on factory farming (and all the health problems that result from it), I want my diet to reflect that.
