This is the second part of a 16 minute video showing how to seal ductwork to reduce leaks, improve indoor air quality, and save energy while improving the comfort in your home. This video shows why it is important, and gives simple tips and instructions for the do-it-yourself homeowner or building professional. The video was produced by the WSU Extension Energy Program and the EnergyExperts.org program.

  • I followed the steps, but I have a couple of pointers.

When adding the mastic, in the video it seems pretty easy to slide in the inner tube of the flex duct. But the vent and the duct are pretty tight so it wasn't that easy. Also, the mastic package didn't mention how long it takes to harden. So I left it drying until the next day. Then I went back the next day and did the outer part.

By the way, the folks at home depot didn't know what I was looking for when I asked for mastic.

  • This is an excellent video. I wish I found this right away when I starting my ductwork. Thanks for posting!!!
