I wrote this song last night for my father who died yesterday morning. I hope that if anyone listens to it that it might mean something to them in some way.

Disclaimer - I'm not a singer, and I don't write lyrics, but I did both for this song anyway.

Lyrics:
Even though you're way up high / this song will reach you if I try
to send it through to you
Remember how you played for me / I was resting on your knee
Now I will play for you

This song is not good-bye
Just til we say hello
Close your eyes / before you know / I'll see you soon / but til I do

Hey, please won't you keep an eye on me
Hey, some day I will be seeing you
Til that day I hope you dance among the stars
just please don't dance too far away from me

The reason for the song I sing / I wish it could say everything
But this, for now, will do
Best friend, father, here's to you / no one loves you like I do
I hope you know that's true

This might seem like good-bye
But trust me, time will fly
Just blink an eye / before you know / I'll come to you / but til I do

Hey, please won't you keep an eye on me
Hey, some day I will be seeing you
Til that day I hope you dance among the stars
just please don't dance too far away from me

  • Hi Paul. Just wanted to let you know that yes, this did mean something to me. I went to high school with your dad (and your mom). He was a brilliant musician...the best accompanist ever, and played for our Concert Choir as well as our school musicals. I was extremely saddened to hear of his death. You have, quite obviously, inherited the musical abilities of both of your parents. This is being written two years after the fact, but your father lives on in the hearts of many.

  • Your father obviously did a great job.

  • Nice song, you can sing you don't need a disclaimer saying you can't, I say look for an agent ;)

  • excellent song

  • Great song, I really wish I could compose like that. Any way, I am sorry for your loss. He will be missed greatly by all who has known him.
