I am a wildlife rehabilitator. This is Shakespeare, a 5 week old baby squirrel receiving her first solid food. As you can see, she simply gums her cheerio just like any baby would! Luna is the 4 week old baby squirrel with her eyes closed that gets in the way of the camera. These squirrels have both grown up to adulthood and have had a successful release back into the wild at this point!

  • They are the cutest! I raised two baby squirrels. We had nowhere to take them because no one would accept them. It was upsetting for me to see them go, weren't you sad? I have been crying for two weeks nonstop. We took them to a Rehabilatator two weeks ago, and it's sad not knowing what's going to happen to them.

  • They're just SO happy that first time they get to run around outside that I actually enjoy letting them go. I usually see them at my feeders later, too. But I can understand, they are easy to get attached to.

  • they suck at eating things.

  • They didn't have teeth, their main diet was milk at the time.

  • dont squirrels need milk first? im just sayin...

  • Correct! These squirrels were not living off of Cheerios, they got a milk replacement formula for their meals. Once they start to get teeth they start practicing chewing, which is what the Cheerio was for. You'll notice they weren't able to actually eat it.

  • So cute so absolutely cuute! <3 I like their names :D Shakespeare and Luna. Thats good thing that you could release them into wild when they have grown up. You are a true nature friend like iam :) Cheers mate! Well done. Too bad that squirrel specie doesn't live in Europe.

  • ;D cute

  • How cute!

  • They don't really make easy pets, these were released back to the wild as adults.
