I just found a similar machine at a yard sale, where are you located?

(J.M.J.) @ picks4u2, I am in Wisconsin, near to Sheboygan where the phonograph was manufactured, and also near Port Washington where the main office for Paramount/Puritan/Broadway, etc.was located. Where are you located?

Your phono's reproducer sounds as if it might need new gaskets. Nifty machine & record!

@edisone1 Just had installed "new" gaskets in the reproducer. The records made by the NYRL company are filled with materials that cause more surface noise (to save the company money on expensive shellac). More swish noise than most other 78rpm records of that time period had. Also, a V graded record not a real clean copy.

@jnorman111 Nothing to do with the record's condition - the diaphragm is obviously loose and blasting, which occurs when the gaskets are hardened. Your "new" gaskets are either the wrong size or just not tight enough.

@edisone1 (J.M.J.) Good ears, as I have to now agree that it needs new gaskets, as what happen here is that the size of the gaskets where just "rigged" to maybe work.
