The S.P.R. had as its parent, and was preceded by the Cambridge Ghost Society, which included such members as: B.F. Westcott, F.J.A. Hort, Henry Sedgwick, Frederic Meyers, Edmund Gurney, Edward White Benson, Lord Rayleigh, Charles Dickens, Julian Huxley, and others.

Two years after founding the Ghost Society, F.J.A. Hort and B. F. Westcott embarked on the "New Testament Scheme."

Throughout their entire years involved in this Bible revision, they were immersed in various secret societies and political initiatives including the Hermes Club, Ghost Society, Eranus, the Society for Psychical Research, the socialist Fabian Society, which founded the globalist London School of Economics and Political Science, and the Apostles Club.

Members of the Apostles Club agreed to a "conspiracy of silence," and included, Dr. Trench of the English Revision Committee, Lytton Strachey, Tennyson, MAYNARD KEYNES(also a EUGENICIST http://bioleft.tripod.com/keynes.htm/), Hugh Sykes Davies, Guy Burgess, Kim Philby, Anthony Blunt, David Mcleon, Julian Bell, and Victor Rothschild.

Westcott and Hort are responsible for many of the modern Bible perversions which are heavily based on their corrupt Greek manuscript.

They also proposed world peace via a world government and ecumenical movement.

There is much info out there on all of these topics. I will try to find some more links...

i can voice any opinion i deem necessary, forget political correctness. those practices are satanic according to the bible, which expressly forbids any such divinations, and seances, and attempting to contact the dead, and dabbling in the paranormal in an incorrect manner. it doesn't matter what they think about theosophy, every occult endeavor is interconnected and working towards the same end. and i am not concerned with the current administration...

it is the historical aspect, and the fact that many of those figures are still influential. but now peoples exposure to the paranormal is mainly relegated to TV, media, and radio programs like coast to coast, so currently the S.P.R. holds less relevance, and isn't that much of a threat.

Wescott and Hort are the same that produced the now New World Translation, NIV, NASB and other prominent "bibles" that distort the truth. Read King James

I suggest you research the Theosophists and what they believed, Madame Blavatsky was their number one, read her books - The Secret Doctrine, she mentions, defends Lucifer and even says that satan is the rightful and only God of this world...she loves lucifer/satan...but of course you wont research or read her works etc...because its not compatible with your presumption , comfortable idea the world is as most are deluded to see it..i woke up last yr

Julian Wikileaks Assange, as a child, was also briefly involved with Raynor Johnson and Annne Hamilton Byrne`s cult in the mid 80s

Another scumbag who was part of this society was Raynor Johnson. Raynor Johnson was, along with jewish woman Anne Hamilton Byrne, a leader of that cult, The Family, in Melbourne Australia that was brainwashing children and feeding them mind altering drugs. Anne Hamilton Byrne was also a yoga teacher and many yoga teachers are known to hypnotize their patients. Lewis Carrol was also widely known to be a pedophile. Some serious investigation needs to be looked into this secret society.

Thanks for the tip re William James's personal library online. I'd love to see any annotations he might have made in the volumes on psychical research.

"20 Cases Suggestive of Reincarnation" is a marvelous book (and I've two copies of it for some reason), and, actually, there's a follow-up to another Stevenson cases in the October 2011 edition of the "Proceedings of the Society for Psychical Research" (Volume 59, part 223). I'd also read "Ghost Hunters," and thought it was very informative. Something a bit similar (but not just SPR) is "Servants of the Supernatural: The Night Side of the Victorian Mind" by Antonio Melechi.

Actually, I might also mention Dr. Carlos Alvarado, another American, whose work gets published in some of the S.P.R.'s journals fairly often these days. He doesn't live that far from me. He manages to get something in the "Paranormal Review" just about every issue.

Well, they do let us "Yanks" into the S.P.R., as they did the late William James, Ian Stevenson (a former Canadian but later U.S. citizen) & J.B. Rhine, all of who were former presidents of the Society. (-: You need to be voted in, but it's not limited to those of British nationality. I can give you my actual name if you want to look me up on the membership rolls.

I have not met Mr. Playfair, unfortunately, although I did meet the aforementioned Dr. Stevenson before his death.

Also, famously, the S.P.R. referred to Blavatsky as an "impostor," which a moment's research would have shown you. Blavatsky's theosophy does not represent the mainstream viewpoint of most prominent S.P.R. members, past and present, with whom I'm familar.
