A film made by Charles & Ray Eames in 1956. This short film made it's debut alongside the Eames Lounge Chair on NBC in the same year.
Produced by Herman Miller in the United States and Vitra in Europe. Avoid replicas, always buy an authentic model.

My view on the original vs replica debate is that if you can justify the cost of an original, that's awesome. Most people though are not in a position to do so,
The fact of the matter is that most people are not really in the market for a £6k chair.
The replicas will obviously not be of the same standard as the original, but top quality replicas are often far superior to any other chair at the £1k price point.
To compare an original to a replica is to compare apples and oranges.

I have an old fake eames lounge, and it is damn comfortable, and lasted for 30 years. If you can afford the original, buy one. The higher quality reproductions aren't too bad. I may even get mine recovered. Don't buy the really cheap fakes. Don't buy over the internet. You've got to sit in it, and inspect to see that it's well made. Some literally have cardboard construction in parts, so be careful.

I have an original - which I bought online back when buying online wasn't fashionalbe for $1800... here's the thing... the originals with the down filler are SUPERIOR to all others, authentic new or repros. Worth the wait/hunt.
