The final installment in the Blaster Master franchise was released in 2001 on the original Playstation as a budget title. A sequel to the Blaster Master series in the west, and a reboot for the Meta Fight series in Japan, Blasting Again brings the series into the 21st century with full 3D graphics, a map system and the ability to save your progress. It was initially a budget title late in PSX's life, so while it has some shortcomings (mainly the lack of a targeting system and full camera control), I find them easy to overlook. Blasting Again plays largely like its predecessors; the player navigates maze-like levels in search of power ups and switches and the like to progress, a design that encourages exploration and backtracking. The environments are broken up into large areas for SOPHIA, the tank, and smaller dungeons to explore as Roddy alone. Lots of action and platforming compliment the package, and despite its issues, I found myself enjoying it. Blasting Again can be found for $1-$5 on eBay, and if you have a couple bucks, you might want to give this one a try.

  • Good reviews man. I watched them all and the only complaint I have is you left out storyline info. I wouldn't of minded since I'm not gonna take the time to find these lol. Anyway, Good reviews.

  • @phalnaxx Haha, well, the stories are nothing to write home about. They're practically non-existent. :)

  • why do people call the playstation the "psx" isn't the psx an actual different system in itself? Albeit a very bad one that didn't sell in Japan

  • @1892Nick It's a long story. Basically, the development for the Playstation was "Playstation Experiemental," and was abbreviated "PSX" by the industry and journalists, and the abbreviation stuck, even when "Experimental" was dropped from the official name. To further confuse the situation, yes, Sony did release a machine called "PSX" in Japan. It was a PS2 with DVR capabilities.

  • you have to play the new blaster master for the wii and do a review. :)

  • @miguelthegamer Yeah, I've got that planned. :)

  • Any chance you'll do a review for Blaster Master Overdrive for the WiiWare?

  • I like your pacing of reviews. Dialog over gameplay then gameplay only then back to dialog over gameplay. Good job!

  • @tvandlust Ahh I see. Didn't have a clue about that here in the UK. Thanks for clearing up that up :) Also carry on the awesome videos man!

  • i got this game for christmas in 2003

  • I liked a few tracks from this game. The underwater level had a nice electronic tune on it. I also liked the jungle stage track, it had a strange carnival sound to it.

Sunsoft also made a "cute" metroidvania similar to BM called Hebereke, theres a FC and an SS release in Japanese and an edited pal version.

Sunsoft just recently come out of bankruptcy, and now they're releasing new games as well as games from other dead publishers.SS went bankrupt right after releasing this game in 2000.
